Event this Saturday!
Sep. 3rd, 2013 11:11 pmGames with Twine: Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (PST)
When most people think about videogames, they imagine a medium that has little to offer beyond adolescent power fantasies. But increasingly, videogames are being used to tell stories that are relevant to a wide range of lives and experiences and to better understand the world we live in. In this workshop, we'll use a hypertext authoring software called Twine to make personal videogames. No programming experience is required, and by the end of the workshop everyone will have made their own game.
The workshop will run 11-1, and then the space will be open for a while afterwards for people to hang out and work on their games.
About the workshop leader:
Merritt Kopas is a cyborg artist and designer whose work deals with themes of bodies, gender, and difference. Her game LIM, an exploration of the violence of liminality, was named in several best indie games of 2012 lists. She holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Sociology from the University of Washington.
